Summer Camps

Quarkmine has more summer camps than ever before in 2023! For nearly a decade, we have partnered with Northwestern Michigan College to bring exciting, hands-on robotics to students taught by our World Championship award-winning-level instructors.

SRL Bot Battle - NEW!

Has your student ever wanted to battle with robots or experiment with 3D printing? These camps are for you! Details below.

New! For nearly a decade, Quarkmine has led students to World Champion levels of success in competitive robotics and worked with students in the classroom. The question most students ask is: When do we get to battle? This workshop is the answer to that question and more.

Students will learn how to design custom robot parts, prototype ideas, manufacture their designs, and market a team identity. SRL will inspire a new generation with new robotic skills and ensure students can market their ideas. After all, a good idea isn’t a fantastic idea until people know about it! Students will see their ideas come to life on 3D printers and compete in bot-on-bot battles like those seen on TV (only smaller)!

Silliness is highly recommended, dancing skills are a bonus, and costumes/team identity are encouraged! SRL is for everyone, beginners welcome, excitement is inevitable!

Afternoon Session: 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM

VEX IQ Robotics

World-Championship Level

Join the exciting world of robotics with our local partner, Quarkmine. Design, build, program, and test custom-built robots with Vex IQ Robotic kits! Capped at twelve students, and led by World Champion Level instructors, you won’t want to miss this unique, individualized, high-level experience. While in this class, students will work hands-on with robotics kits that contain hundreds of structural parts along with motors, gears, axles, sensors, batteries, and a robotic brain.

Challenge your skills as you learn how to build or modify a robot to complete a variety of tasks through computer programming. The final robots will compete in the Ultimate Team Challenge—a fast-paced, head-to-head robot rumble that will highlight driver skill, team strategy, and autonomous programming. This workshop is designed so that all levels, beginner to advanced, can participate and grow their skills.
